What we have achieved far exceeds our humble beginnings, but our spirit remains the same: that of a united family, proud of its Quebecois roots and dedicated to offering the best to our customers.
Today, this pride is embodied in the “Designed in Québec” certification mark we proudly display. This distinction, earned for our clothing and accessories, reflects our commitment to local design and to showcasing the talent and expertise of Quebec.

Our Beginnings
In 1944, in La Tuque, Mauricie, the first store of the chain opened under the name L’Économie. In the following years, other branches emerged, managed by members of the same family.
The chain truly took off in the early 1980s, when a group of owners rebranded it and created a new banner. The result: larger stores, standardized signage, and collective purchasing power.
In 1997, the chain adopted the name L’Aubainerie and embraced a fashion-forward direction, focusing more on new trends while maintaining extremely affordable prices.
New stores then opened under the name L'Aubainerie Concept Mode. The network’s growth was rapid, and the chain now has over 50 retail locations, making it the largest clothing retailer in the province.
Aubainerie remains a family business whose leaders share a passion for fashion and close ties with their customers.
Driven by a desire to make the latest trends accessible to everyone, the Aubainerie team continually renews its collections and pursues its growth.
